Fair Trade Forum 2007

Description:
From Tanzania to Kenya, from Dominican Republic to Ecuador, fair trade represents for millions of small farmers the only viable opportunity to provide a sustainable and long-term future for their families. It is an ethical form of trade where profit is concentrated in the farmers' hands, organic farming is encouraged and consumers are provided a direct opportunity to make a difference. The Office of the President of the University of Calgary, Centre for Public Interest Accounting, Students' Union, International Centre and Development Studies Club are pleased to sponsor a public forum on "Fair Trade: From production to final markets, a producers' perspective" to examine the progress, priorities and challenges of fair trade producers and their ability to promote human development.
