Wilderness Expo Celebrates Earth Day

Wilderness Celebration: Journey to the Yukon's Three Rivers

The evening will begin with a multimedia presentation on the trip of 11 nationally prominent artists, writers, journalists, and photographers joined 26 people from the Yukon and the Northwest Territories through the Snake, the Wind, and the Bonnet Plume Rivers in the Peel River Basin in the stunning Selwyn Mountains along Yukon’s eastern border. Following this there will be musical performances by <a href="http://www.kristilynrobertson.com/">Kristilyn Robertson</a>, <a href="http://cassiuskhan.impendo.com/">Cassius Khan</a> and world-renowned slide guitarist <a href="http://www.ellenmcilwaine.com/">Ellen McIlwaine</a>. The evening will also feature the final viewing of &quot;Earth&#39;s Treasure Chest&quot;. The individual panels of this mural are currently being auction off in an online auction at <a href="http://www.cpaws-edmonton.org/auction" title="www.cpaws-edmonton.org/auction">www.cpaws-edmonton.org/auction</a> and will be sent to their new generous owners following the event on May 12th.</p> </div> </div></div>

Canadians Subsidize Environmental Costs of Encana's Activities at Suffield

EnCana is destroying an environmentally significant area at fire sale prices and with lack of environmental oversight, charges a coalition of environmental groups. The groups are concerned that EnCana's proposal to drill more wells in the Suffield National Wildlife Area may leave Canadian taxpayers with the bill for the huge ecological cost to this priceless area. They are asking the federal government to prohibit all new industrial activities in the Suffield National Wildlife Area. Read More

Act Now To Protect The Bow River And Protected Areas In The Bow Valley

All Albertans who care about protecting the Bow River, Bow Valley Provincial Park, Bow Valley Wildland Park, and other protected areas should contact the following politicians now and oppose the development of a new town proposed for the Horseshoe Lands on the banks of the Bow River at the entrance to the Rocky Mountains, or at the very least request that the Province require an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) before any development proposal is considered for this area.
