From Canada to Copenhagen: Pedal for the Planet

A new climate treaty will be negotiated during international climate talks in Copenhagen, Denmark, December 7-18, 2009. Canada now stands out as one of the last major industrialized countries opposed to targets for deep reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and one of the biggest blockers of climate change negotiations.

Cost: if you've got your own tire to stud, $5 will buy you the studs and tire lining. If you'd like to buy a good quality used tire, cost will be from $10 to $20, including studs, depending on the tire we find you

How does Calgary stack up to other cities when it comes to encouraging citizens to ride their bikes to work? What are we doing right? What can we be do better?

That is the topic of a special panel discussion on bike commuting hosted by Sierra Club Canada’s Chinook Group on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 7 pm at the Calgary Area Outdoor Council (CAOC) building at 1111 Memorial Drive NW on the Bow River pathway (upstairs, entrance at the back).

Since opening the shop doors in Eau Claire Market in early June, public support and attention has been overwhelmingly positive and many people have taken advantage of the shop’s services. Although many women have come in to use the shops resources, an obvious imbalance exists in the ratio of men to women.
