Summer has officially begun at BikeWorks! We are now open 6 days a week and eager to help you get your bike in good shape and rolling smoothly over the summer.
To make BikeWorks as accessible as possible, we need as many volunteers as possible! Anyone interested in volunteering at our community bike shop is invited to join us for an orientation. We’ll give you the grand tour, fill you in on all the details and get you ready to confidently help out, either as a mechanic, greeter or wherever your skill set may lie. Orientations will take approximately one hour. The first two are scheduled for Wednesday May 26 and Friday May 28 and will begin at 6:30 PM at BikeWorks (10047-80 Avenue). Snacks and drinks will be provided. If you would like to get involved please try and attend!
BikeWorks is overflowing and it’s time to strip some bikes and send them off to the metal recyclers! The more the merrier, so come on out on Sunday May 30th from 6PM onwards to help us clean up our act. There will be pizza, drinks, music and good times. NOTE: This event was originally scheduled for 1 PM but has been moved to 6PM.
EBC and the ESO are partnering to offer $25 tickets (incl. all fees) to EBC members for the June 1 performance of Cameron Carpenter and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
Tickets will be on sale only until May 6. A limited number of tickets are available, so hurry to get yours.
Edmonton Bicycle Commuters are offering bike maintenance seminars throughout April and May. Seminars include Basic Maintenance and Wheel Care. All classes run Thursdays from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at BikeWorks and are free for members and $5 for non-members. Registration is required.

Take
To The Streets on August 23!

invited to take part in a leisurely (or fast-paced) on-street,

advantages of pedal powered transportation.
A new climate treaty will be negotiated during international climate talks in Copenhagen, Denmark, December 7-18, 2009. Canada now stands out as one of the last major industrialized countries opposed to targets for deep reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and one of the biggest blockers of climate change negotiations.
