Volunteer Opportunity: Youth Council, Alberta Environmental Network

Position:
Youth Council Member
Application Deadline:
23 Oct 2018

The Alberta Environmental Network (AEN) is creating a new Youth Council—an opportunity to influence the network of 40+ Alberta environmental groups.

Please complete the application below by Tuesday, October 23.

AEN is a non-profit, non-partisan umbrella organization dedicated to helping preserve and protect Alberta's environment. AEN has been flying under the radar for some time but we are re-emerging with urgency, particularly around the issues of climate change and protected areas.

AEN is seeking young people (30 and under) from around Alberta to join AEN's new Youth Council. We know that young people are very aware, knowledgeable and active in environmental initiatives. In many cases, the established environmental "movement" in Alberta has done a poor job of reaching out to young people, welcoming and supporting their activities, and inviting them to contribute to our activities. This is a tremendous shortcoming that AEN would like to address. Read more about Volunteer Opportunity: Youth Council, Alberta Environmental Network

2018 AEN Fall Assembly

Nov 2 2018 (All day) to Nov 3 2018 (All day)

AEN member groups work on a broad range of inter-connected issues covering a wide geographic area. The urgency of our environmental objectives requires that we work together strategically and effectively. Meeting face-to-face is very important to building community, taking action, and making a collective impact.

AEN's Fall Assembly brings together environmental advocates from across the province, and provides opportunities for groups to share knowledge, strategize and plan collective action. This year's program includes sessions on truth and reconciliation in environmental work, youth engagement, digital campaigning, and Alberta's political climate.

AEN Members are eligible for support for travel and accommodation expenses while attending the Assembly.
