October 10 Deadline
Currently, the Government of Alberta is rewriting the rules that will guide the creation and management of Provincial Parks and Protected Areas into the future.
CPAWS has been consulted on the draft Parks Planning Framework and is alarmed to find that:
- The primary purpose of parks in environmental protection and conservation has been almost completely ignored in the draft framework and
- There is no goal to either expand or complete Alberta’s Protected Areas system.
Please help us get it back on track— the deadline for comments on the draft Parks Planning Framework is October 10th.
It's important, and it's easy, to make your voice heard:
- Get informed: check out our summary webpage and/or read CPAWS's submission.
- Speak up: write a short, personal letter to the Honourable Cindy Ady, Minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation. Letter-writing Guide and Sample Letters
- If you only have 2 minutes: please consider calling either Minister Ady, your MLA, or the Premiers office to let them know you support Alberta's Parks and Protected Areas and their primary role in environmental protection and conservation.

This fall be sure you have your say on the role that Alberta's protected areas have in the conservation of our natural heritage.
