The Environmental Law Centre recently completed a project examining the public interest mandates of the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) and the Natural Resources Conservation Board (NRCB). A law reform brief entitled "Roadmap For Reforming 'The Public Interest' for the ERCB and NRCB" which outlines this research is available on our website.
The brief provides decision-makers with a road map for reforming the public interest so it can provide better guidance for the ERCB and NRCB, and so resource development will occur on a more proactive basis. We believe this is an important component of creating a much needed plan for land and resource development in Alberta.
