Gearing up for Alberta Water Quality Awareness Day 2007

Be a part of something big!

On-line registration is now open! Register early to avoid being disappointed.

Have you ever wondered about the quality of water in your local stream or wetland? Albertans will have the opportunity to learn more about their local waterways during the third annual Alberta Water Quality Awareness (AWQA) Day on June 5, 2007.

AWQA Day provides free test kits for participants to get outside and learn about the water quality of any lake, stream, wetland or other surface waterbody of interest.

It is fun and easy to participate:

  1. Register online for the program at www.awqa.ca, by April 30th.
  2. Choose a local lake, pond, stream, river, wetland or reservoir where you are interested in testing water. Each kit can analyze up to 50 samples. Take the opportunity to explore differences in water quality among locations and waterbody types.
  3. Collect and analyze samples anytime from May 15th to June 30th.
  4. Share your results with hundreds of other water quality stewards across Alberta by entering your data on the AWQA Day website (www.awqa.ca) by July 15th. Please make every effort to REUSE your test kit from last year if you are a returning participant!

Get outside. Bring a friend. Have fun!
