Representatives to take part in TOTAL Joclyn North Tar Sands Hearings
EDMONTON - Two representatives from Sierra Club Prairie will be participating in hearings for TOTAL's proposed Joclyn North Mine Project beginning 21st September 2010 in Fort McMurray AB and finishing up mid-October in Edmonton.
Dustin Johnson, Energy Campaigner for Sierra Club Prairie, and former Sierra Club of Canada Executive Director Stephen Hazell will both be participating in the hearing, and will be available for media comment throughout, and on site at the hearing for the first and third weeks.
In addition to being available to comment to media, Dustin and Stephen will also be keeping a daily blog at p.sierraclub.ca and will twitter updates from our twitter account 'SCPrairie' about the hearing.

TOTAL’s proposed project would result in one and a half million tonnes of greenhouse gas pollution each year; destroy seven thousand hectares of land equivalent to 13,000 football fields; result in the production of 12.5 billion litres of toxic tailings waste each year; and remove and pollute up to 22 billion litres of fresh water from the Athabasca River each year.
