Call for Comments: Proposed Project List (Impact Assessment Act)

Initiative:
Discussion Paper on the Proposed Project List
Deadline:
31 May 2019

From the Impact Assessment Regulations website:

The Government of Canada is committed to putting in place better rules (External link) for major projects that protect the environment, respect Indigenous rights, and strengthen our economy.

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is seeking public comments until 31 May, 2019 to inform the development of two regulations to support the government’s proposed new Impact Assessment Act(External link):

  • The Regulations Designating Physical Activities (also known as the Project List) would set out the types of projects that may be subject to a federal impact assessment (known as designated projects). The Discussion Paper on Proposed Project List details the project types that are proposed for inclusion in the Project List and the approach followed to create the list. The new Project List will aim to make it clear when the new rules apply, providing certainty that Canadians and companies need and expect.
