Road to the Supreme Court of Canada: Our climate future on the line

September 14, 2020 - 1:00pm

From Ecojustice:

Go behind-the-scenes with the Ecojustice lawyers preparing for a Supreme Court of Canada hearing that will decide the fate of the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act — and climate action in Canada.

On September 22 and 23, the SCC will hear cases brought by the Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Alberta governments challenging the constitutionality of the federal government’s carbon pricing legislation.

Make no mistake: This legal fight is about more than putting a price on carbon. The bigger question at play is whether the federal government has the authority to step in when provincial governments fail to do their part to combat the climate crisis.

Please, join us! This is your chance to hear directly from some of Ecojustice’s most seasoned lawyers about what preparing to appear before the highest court in the country entails. You’ll also get special insight on what this legal showdown will mean for the future of climate action in Canada.

Bring your questions. Bring your curiosity. Bring your passion for climate justice.
