Online Panel: Food and Climate Change

Green Drinks: Climate Emergency Series

April 8, 2020 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

The Local Good is taking their monthly Green Drinks Edmonton event online. From the event page:

Grab a beverage and join us for a panel discussion and Q&A with local experts on food and climate change.

Global systems of food production, distribution and consumption account for a huge chunk of global greenhouse gas emissions (21% to 37%). The way we currently produce food is also a significant contributor to deforestation, biodiversity loss and declining water tables. We need to make some fundamental changes if we're going to make sure everyone has enough to eat without triggering runaway climate breakdown.

Panelists

  • Aaron Paquette, Edmonton City Councillor
  • Juanita Gnanapragasam, Public Health Practitioner and Occupational Therapist
  • Brent Swallow, Professor of Agricultural and International Development Economics at the University of Alberta
