Music for the Wild — Jim McLennan with guests The June Bugs

February 27, 2011 - 2:30am

AWA is proud to present Longview guitarist Jim McLennan. Jim is one of Alberta's finest finger-style guitarists and arrangers, specializing in coaxing piano and big band music out of his acoustic guitar. Jim recorded for Kicking Horse Records and was a fixture on the folk club and festival circuit in the 70's and 80's. In his “gap years,” Jim raised a family and authored several books about fly fishing. These days he can often be seen in a duo with his friend Steve Fisher.

See http://www.mclennanflyfishing.com/ for more information about Jim.

Opening act: The June Bugs are five women who sing beautiful harmonies and play saucy bluegrass, upbeat gospel and traditional folk music. The June Bugs are Renay Eng-Fisher, Audrey Guagliano, Sue Anne Borer, Christie Simmons, and Tasha Zboya.

This first outing of 2011 marks the start of a third year for our popular Music for the Wild series of evenings by local performers in support of AWA and Alberta's Wild Spaces.
