Learning to Speak Lichen: Lichen Walk n’ Talk About Air Quality & Climate

August 22, 2020 - 9:30am to 11:00am

Join us to learn about your lichen neighbours, and how to translate what they’re telling us about our urban environment. Not sure what a lichen is? Come and find out! We’ll introduce you to a few of your common (and uncommon) lichen neighbours, and discuss why we think listening to urban lichens is important.

About the Presenter

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Diane Haughland to lead this event (Lichenologist, Royal Alberta Museum, Alberta Biodiversity Monitoring Institute and Adjunct Professor, University of Alberta, Department of Renewable Resources).

Diane is an ecologist and lichen taxonomist that has studied Alberta’s lichens for over a decade. She teaches a course on lichen identification and ecology at the University of Alberta.
