A Climate of Change: Drawdown Alberta

Season 2, Episode 9

April 14, 2021 - 7:05pm

From the Calgary Climate Hub website:

This month our guests will be a panel from Drawdown Alberta, a brand-new initiative to use existing solutions to not only lower greenhouse gas emissions, but actively reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.

Based on Project Drawdown, Drawdown Alberta is a crowdsolving and community-based approach to climate change solutions. Project Drawdown's mission is to help the world reach “Drawdown”— the point in the future when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline, thereby stopping catastrophic climate change — as quickly, safely, and equitably as possible.

This positive, solutions-based approach has led to Drawdown communities emerging around the world. You will be introduced to the newly formed Drawdown Alberta community and their vision, still taking shape, for how local, impactful Drawdown solutions, many already in progress, can be supported by a greater number of Albertans working collectively through technology and grassroots community building. We'll share some important Drawdown actions that participants can take right away and how you can join the Drawdown Alberta community.

Solutions to climate change already exist. We will talk to our panelists about what those solutions are and how to support their implementation in Alberta. Albertans of all ages, backgrounds and interests – wherever they live in the province – can help move climate solutions forward.

We’ll be broadcasting to you via Facebook Live where you can participate in the night’s conversation by asking the questions you think need answering via the live-feed. Or, RSVP for a Zoom link.
