Calgary Commuter Challenge

June 1, 2008 - 6:00am to June 8, 2008 - 5:59am

What Moves You?

What is moving you this Environment Week? Sustainable Alberta Association is once again the proud host of Commuter Challenge and it is coming soon so gear up your bike, stretch out your legs, and pick up your bus pass to get ready! This 18th annual event promotes Calgary workplaces and individuals to experience sustainable modes of transportation.

Our Launch event, sponsored by ConocoPhillips, will inform and inspire company representatives.

Commuter Challenge has had a massive impact on workplaces and their employees as individuals can now see and understand how their choices impact our community. Last year, Calgarians reduced 512, 224 kilometres in commuter trips and 134, 932 kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions in one week alone.

Sustainable Alberta Association is running the National Campaign this year and is thankful to have such generous sponsors like TELUS who have stepped up to the plate to ensure that this program continues to run. Nationally, the 2007 event saw 38,748 Canadians in over 170 communities and 1,757 workplaces participate.

This week long event has the ability to create environmental and social change in Calgary. So we ask, what moves you?
