Alberta Caribou Action & Range Planning Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Group: Cold Lake Caribou Range

Initiative: 
Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Group for the Cold Lake Caribou Range

Two (2) ENGO Delegates and one (1) alternate

The Government of Alberta is developing caribou action plan(s) and range plans for Alberta’s fifteen caribou populations. The plans are being developed to meet the requirements of the 2012 Federal Recovery Strategy for the Woodland Caribou, Boreal Population. A phased approach will be taken to develop the plans: (1) Little Smoky/A La Peche, (2) Cold Lake, (3) northeast caribou ranges, and (4) northwest and remaining mountain caribou ranges. Development of the Little Smoky/A La Peche and Cold Lake plans will begin this year, with the aim of being completed in early 2014. Read More

Context

On June 1, 2013 at the Alberta Environmental Network AGM at the Bennett Environmental Centre in Edmonton, Alberta representatives of several member groups proposed the creation of the AEN Environmental Regulatory Caucus.

Caucuses are the action arms of the AEN. They exist for member groups to share resources and jointly work on their shared agendas. Often this involves meeting with government, industry and other relevant sectors. New caucuses and working groups can be initiated if there is sufficient need and member group interest. Read More
