Key Stakeholders from Edmonton ENGOs to participate in the update of the City of Edmonton’s environmental strategic plan

The City of Edmonton is looking for up to 10 Edmonton-based ENGOs to act as Key Stakeholders in the updating of the City’s environmental strategic plan – The Way We Green. Other Key Stakeholders in the project will include members of City Council, the City’s senior management team, various civic departments/branches, the City’s Environmental Advisory Committee and Natural Areas Advisory Committee, business and industry, federal and provincial government, youth, boards and authorities and social agencies.  Together, Key Stakeholders will participate in a facilitated process that will: (a) examine/identify the environmental sustainability challenges facing Edmonton in the short, medium and long term, and (b) contribute to a corresponding strategy.  The project will be sharply focused on Edmonton’s environmental sustainability and an environmental sustainability strategy for protecting the wellbeing of future Edmontonians.

Key stakeholders will be engaged in thought and discussions throughout 2010 through the review of discussion papers and opportunities to attend presentations by leading experts on the topic and sub-topics of environmental sustainability. Specific events requiring attendance will include: 

  • February: Project framing interviews with individual stakeholder groups;
  • March:  ½ day facilitated workshop, date and details to be determined;
  • June:  full day facilitated workshop date and details to be determined; and
  • October:  ½ day facilitated workshop, date and details to be determined.
Selection Criteria: 
  • Familiarity with one or more environmental sustainability issues including water supply, water quality, air quality, climate change, energy supply, other natural resources supply, natural areas, biodiversity, land and land contamination issues, and food supply.
  • The number of Edmonton citizens who are members of your particular ENGO.
