Congratulations to the Alberta Native Plant Council (an AEN member group) for their win in the Non-Profit Association category at last night's Emerald Awards. CPAWS celebrates grizzly victory
The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, an AEN member group, is celebrating a victory with the recent announcement that the Alberta govenrment will list the grizzly bear as a threatened species. Read More

The Canadian Environmental Network has posted the May 26th edition of the e-Bulletin.
Highlights
Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement
Eight conservation groups, including AEN members CPAWS and Greenpeace, and the Canadian forest industry have signed off on one of the largest conservation agreements in the world. The Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement covers 72 million hectares of publically owned forests — an area twice the size of Germany.
RePower Alberta Launches Across the Province
Building the Green Economy
Sierra Club Prairie and Greenpeace Canada have launched the Province-wide green tour, ‘RePower Alberta: Building the Green Economy’, and will see leaders in various sectors of the green jobs economy talking about the growing economic and community benefits of moving to a green economy and how to start laying the stepping stones in getting there.
The tour already has confirmed dates in Peace River, Manning, Fort Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Slave Lake and Red Deer with additional tour dates being planned throughout the summer.
RePower Alberta is calling on the Alberta Government to implement a Green Energy Strategy. After decades of riding the roller-coaster of the fossil fuel sectors’ boom and bust cycles, the time has come for Alberta to forge a new energy path. Renewable energy resources and green just solutions are ready and waiting to meet our increasing energy demands. Read More

How are artists and curators representing, documenting, and archiving Alberta’s oil economy? What is the role of public art in contemplating the issues arising from Alberta’s oil economy? This speaker series will feature local and international artists, activists, and critics whose creative work addresses these questions and responds to the energy economy.
