About the AEN

The Alberta Environmental Network (AEN) connects Albertans and environmental groups that are dedicated to preserving and protecting Alberta’s environment. As a non-profit and non-partisan organization, the AEN supports collaboration of the environmental community throughout the province.

Connecting Alberta’s environmental groups

We are a network of individuals and groups working together on shared concerns. AEN members include individuals and representatives from member groups that connect, collaborate and share information.

The AEN is a link between the environmental community and government, industry, the media and all Albertans.

Join the network

Albertans and environmental groups are welcome to join the AEN as members – there are memberships for both individuals and groups. Members contribute to preserving and protecting Alberta’s environment by sharing information and collaborating on shared issues. Learn more about becoming a member of the AEN.

The AEN supports an inclusive and diverse environmental community for all Albertans.

Thursday 15th September

Captain Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherds Conservation Society on a cross country tour of Canada. Appearing at the Stanley Milner Library Theatre at 7 pm.

Captain Watson was a founding member of GreenPeace in the early 1970s but was too radical for them. He has risked his life attempting to stop whaling factory ships and seal clubbing in the Martimes. He is reputedly wanted by the Canadian Authorities for trespassing near the seal hunters, but hopefully he won't end up in the slammer before coming to Edmonton. Canadian authorities have ordered him arrested for his seal activities.

A press conference is planned for the afternoon of the 15th September.

Learn more about SSCS at http://www.seashepherd.org/

Books, T-Shirts, buttons, etc will be available and Captain Watson will be available for signing. Co-Sponsored with Voice for Animals (V4A) and Edmonton Friends of the North Environmental Society (EFONES).

Ticket Price:

  • $5 in advance from Earths General Store and Hub Mall at U of A.
  • $7 at the Door
  • $2 deduction for students with valid ID and low income.
