As you may be aware, CASA is Alberta’s most prominent collaborative
forum for the successful development of multi-stakeholder environmental
policy recommendations. This success is built on the strong
participation of environmental groups in CASA, and the inclusion of
important structural features such as balanced representation,
stakeholder support, Alberta Environment’s commitment to champion
consensus recommendations, and sectoral representation and self-selection.
Recent events have led to ENGO vacancies on CASA committees and project teams:
CASA Communications Committee
CASA Performance Measures Sub-committee
Ambient Air Quality Objectives Priority Setting Workshop Organizing Committee
Airshed Membership Review Committee
Electricity Five-year Review Project Team
Priority Setting Workshop
Interested in helping set the agenda for which pollutants move to
the top of the list for establishing ambient air quality objectives?
Every three years, an open workshop to identify the leading candidates
for new or revised ambient air quality objectives is held. An ENGO
member for the organizing committee of this important event is needed.

Description:
Depleted Uranium (DU) is used in modern munitions. It is very effective at what it is used for (pleasing the military) and highly toxic with continuing effects. Once a DU weapon is exploded, radioactive particles are released into the environment to be carried away on the wind. They are inhaled (or ingested) and then cause residual problems and death for ‘collateral’ victims. Imagine a bomb that if it doesn’t kill on impact it will kill the ‘enemy’ slowly due to radiation poisoning. This documentary is very informative and will demand of us to ask “Is the Canadian military using these types of weapons? Are they testing them inCanada?” Come join us. Read more »
