<p> <em>From Tanzania to Kenya, from Dominican Republic to Ecuador, fair trade represents for millions of small farmers the only viable opportunity to provide a sustainable and long-term future for their families. It is an ethical form of trade where profit is concentrated in the farmers' hands, organic farming is encouraged and consumers are provided a direct opportunity to make a difference. </em></p><p>The <a href="http://www.ucalgary.ca/president/">Office of the President of the University of Calgary</a>, <a href="http://www.ucalgary.ca/cpia">Centre for Public Interest Accounting</a>, <a href="http://www.su.ucalgary.ca/">Students' Union</a>, <a href="http://www.ucalgary.ca/ic/">International Centre</a> and <a href="http://www.ucalgary.ca/dsc/">Development Studies Club</a> are pleased to sponsor a public forum on "<a href="http://www.ucalgary.ca/cpia/web/fair_trade_2007.html"><strong>Fair Trade: From production to final markets, a producers' perspective</strong></a>" to examine the progress, priorities and challenges of fair trade producers and their ability to promote human development.</p>
