What: Volunteers will spend a day exploring the Nature Conservancy of Canada's (NCC's) Lowden Springs property and ridding this low-lying moraine habitat of invasive plant species including Canada Thistle. In addition, volunteers will be treated to a tour of the lake property and will learn about Rumsey Moraine, the largest uninterrupted Aspen Parkland habitat left in the world.

What: Volunteers will join the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) for its third annual Thistle pull on one of NCC’s beautiful properties at the Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary near Edmonton. Volunteers will be taken on a guided hike through its marshlands, open meadows, aspen parkland and pine forest, and then contribute to site improvement by pulling invasive weed species including Canada Thistle in order to protect native plant diversity. What: Volunteers will join the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) for a day of invasive plant removal at NCC’s West property near Waterton Lakes National Park. Volunteers will round up some invasive Spotted Knapweed in order to protect the native plant diversity of this ecologically significant area. In addition, volunteers will enjoy a tour of this scenic property guided by landowner Rick West, and a barbecue in the late afternoon. Read more »

The Heart of the Crowsnest: Habitat Restoration at Fleming Ranch

What: Volunteers will join the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) for a day of exploration and habitat restoration on one of NCC’s scenic properties, Fleming Ranch. Volunteers will be taken on a guided hike through wetlands and woodlands, and then contribute to site improvement by taking down barbed wire fences, installing Bluebird boxes and bat houses, and pulling weeds such as Spotted Knapweed along the Crowsnest River.
