Panel Discussion: Is Our Drinking Water at Risk?

Nov 30 2015 - 7:30pm - 9:30pm

Is Canada's urban drinking water at risk?

Clean drinkable water is life, yet most Canadians take water for granted.

With less than 3 per cent of municipally-treated water used for drinking, the rest goes down our drains and toilets or on our gardens. We often fail to consider the sustainability of our water.

On November 30, you are invited to a free panel discussion at the John Dutton Theatre, Calgary Central Library in Calgary, featuring:

David Schindler, University of Alberta
Eminent Canadian biologist andenvironmentalist gives his perspective on water and the environment and the danger to our water supplies from human activity.

Arlene Kwasniak, University of Calgary
Lawyer and water policy expert explores the push and pull on water resources from competing industries and the policies we should enact to protect this vital resource.

Masaki Hayashi, University of Calgary
A local field researcher tells tales from the watershed. Before it comes to our taps, what happens to the water along its trip from alpine lakes, through prairie rivers? Read more »
