Call for Delegates: ENGO Member, Particulate Matter and Ozone Framework Implementation Team
Submitted by AEN on October 14, 2009 - 16:47.Alberta Environment and the Clean Air Strategic Alliance are currently implementing the CASA Particulate Matter and Ozone Framework to address the air quality effects of these two pollutants. This work is being overseen by as multi-stakeholder implementation team.
This is an AEN delegate selection notice calling for applicants to serve as an ENGO member of the implementation team.
Call for Delegates: ENGO Delegate, Ambient Air Quality Objectives Priority Setting Workshop
Submitted by AEN on October 2, 2009 - 17:34.This is a notice of deadline extension for the Priority Setting Workshop for the next workplan to develop new or renewed Ambient Air Quality Objectives.
Participants will be reviewing the suite of nominated substances for new/renewed AAQOs and working with other sector stakeholders to establish the work priorities for the next three years.
There is room for 10 ENGO representatives in all.

Call for Nominations: RCEN Youth Caucus Steering Committee

Alberta Water Council: Call for Members for New Team
Submitted by AEN on June 8, 2009 - 11:04.On June 4, the AB Water Council approved the launch of a Project Team – likely the only new one for the rest of 2009-2010, given budget constraints. AEN is being asked to nominate by this Friday June 12 a rep to a working group in June, and by end of June to nominate a rep (not necessarily the same person) to the Project Team from July to March 2010.
If you’re interested in representing AEN on the working group or project Team, please reply to Meghan meghan [at] water-matters [dot] org by noon Thursday June 11.
Project Focus
Team is to Identify Criteria for Areas of Significance for maintenance of aquatic ecosystem health. This was identified as a high priority step towards a broader source water protection/sensitive areas protection strategy by the Healthy Aquatic Ecosystem Team in their March 2009 report. Alberta Environment strongly supported a multi-stakeholder team moving forward on this topic.
Call for Nominations to NSWA Board of Directors
Submitted by russ on June 2, 2009 - 16:45.The North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance (NSWA) is a non-profit society whose purpose is to protect and improve water quality and ecosystem functioning in the North Saskatchewan River watershed in Alberta. The organization is guided by a Board of Directors composed of member organizations from within the watershed. It is the designated Watershed Planning and Advisory Council (WPAC) for the North Saskatchewan River under Alberta Environment’s Water for Life Strategy.

Calling on young environmentalists to join the RCEN at its June Assembly in Edmonton

What: Canadian Environmental Network (RCEN) 2009 Annual General Assembly
Where: Edmonton, Alberta
When: June 12th to 14th 2009
The RCEN is looking for 10 youth participants (ages 18 to 30) from across the country to come and represent Canadian youth at this annual gathering of grassroots environmental organizations. This gathering is meant to tackle the most important environmental and policy issues faced in Canada and internationally. By mobilizing a group of youth, we hope to better integrate your voices in these issues, get you involved in the RCEN and give you an opportunity to meet other youth engaged in environmental issues, as well as some of the most experienced environmentalists in the country!
BiodiverCity: Cities of Nature, In Nature
To highlight the important relationship between cities and biodiversity, speakers at the event will explore the impact of urban demands on resources to the possibilities of growing more food locally and the benefits of natural areas within cities. Other scheduled activities include: panels on environmental assessment and sustainable community management; a workshop on nuclear energy; an inter-organizational fair; and a slam poetry session/music jam. Call for Delegate: NRCB Policy Advisory Board
Submitted by AEN on March 2, 2009 - 11:29.The Alberta Environmental Network has been notified that there is a need to identify an alternate member to the NRCB policy advisory group (PAG). The NRCB delivers the Agricultural Operation Practices Act and provides broad governance, administrative policy, and appeals. The Policy Advisory Group (PAG) is a multi-stakeholder advisory committee that provides advice to the Chief Executive Officer of the Natural Resources Conservation Board (NRCB) on matters related to the effective delivery of the Agricultural Operation Practices Act (AOPA).
