One of the key directions of the Government of Alberta's Water For Life (WFL) strategy is that Albertans will improve the efficiency and productivity of their water use by 30% from 2005 levels by 2015. The purpose of this initiative is to provide multi-stakeholder support to the seven major water-using sectors in Alberta as they develop plans to improve their conservation, efficiency and productivity to contribute to the goals set out in WFL. Members of the Alberta Environmental Network might be interested to learn about an international public education and outreach program organized annually by the Water Environment Federation and International Water Association. The program is called World Water Monitoring Day, and it encourages people all around the world to get more personally connected to their local waterways through basic water quality monitoring.
