CPAWS Calgary/Banff Launches "My Vote is for the Environment" Campaign

The CPAWS Calgary/Banff Chapter has launched a new campaign focusing on environmental issues in the 2008 Alberta Elections.

CPAWS is a non-partisan organization, so we will not be endorsing any specific candidates or parties. However, we feel it is important to give citizens the tools to make an informed decision when they vote for the environment. To do this CPAWS Calgary/Banff is also providing an extensive online guide at www.cpawscalgary.org for voters who are concerned about environmental issues in Alberta. The guide includes tips for talking to candidates, information on the provinces' top environmental issues as well as links to other resources. The guide will be updated with news and the election-related resources of other organizations as they become available.

We have also created a window poster that citizens, business owners and all concerned Albertans can print from their home computers and post in their front windows or on front doors. It is intended that door-knocking candidates and other voters will be able to see these posters and know that the environment will be a top concern when Albertans go to the polls on March 3. This is a simple and powerful way for Albertans to show all candidates and parties that the environment does matter when it comes to choosing the next government in this province. Imagine the impact of thousands of these posters to springing up all over Alberta! We need your help to do this. Print off the poster in black and white or in colour from our website, www.cpawscalgary.org, and ask your friends, co-workers or relatives who are also concerned with the environment to do the same.

Thanks for your support everyone, and please do not hesitate to contact us with questions, comments, or to let us know how candidates are responding to your posters!

Cheers,
