Over the years, the activities of the Sierra Club have expanded to include issues ranging from climate change and energy to toxic chemical contamination and loss of biological diversity. The Sierra Club has been active in Canada since 1969, working on matters of public policy and environmental awareness. We have local chapters and working groups across Canada. The Sierra Club's Chinook Group, focused on Calgary and southern Alberta, has been active in Calgary since 2001.The monthly meeting, on the 2nd Wed. of every month, is meant to present new items to the membership, including a new presentation by an outside group on a new environmental concern. These meetings are just one of many events that the Sierra Club organizes in any given month. Outings, promotional events and campaign-based meetings are always ongoing. There are plenty of opportunities to be involved. For more info, go to www.sierraclubchinook.org.
