Dr. Keith is the current Director of Energy &amp; Environmental Systems: ISEEE, and the Canada Research Chair in Energy and the Environment, amongst many other positions (see <a href="/files/Mercury upRISING_March 21 Event Poster_new3.pdf">attached poster</a>).</p><p>&quot;Climate Change and Carbon Engineering&quot; will address how the climate problem arises from human manipulation of the carbon cycle. Dr. Keith will discuss engineered ways to reduce humans’ impact on the carbon cycle or to directly reduce climate change by deliberate planetary scale engineering. A short question and answer session will follow.</p><p>The evening will then round off with a screening of &quot;<a href="http://www.mongrelmedia.com/films/ManufacturedLandscapes.html">Manufactured Landscapes</a>&quot; – a stunning documentary by award-winning director Jennifer Baichwal that follows acclaimed photographer <a href="http://www.edwardburtynsky.com/">Edward Burtynsky</a> to China, as he captures the effects of the country’s massive industrial evolution. This remarkable film leads us to meditate on human endeavour and its impact on the planet.<br /></p><hr /><p>A free event.
