The Castle-Crown Wilderness Coalition (CCWC), based in Southwestern Alberta, is working to gain legislated protection for the Castle Wilderness, a 1000 km2 area in the Rocky Mountains just north of Waterton Lakes National Park. The Castle Wilderness has the highest biodiversity in Alberta after Waterton Park, contains unique biogeographical features, and is an important north-south movement corridor for large animals.
Our Vision: A world in which wilderness survives so that wild lands and wildlife may thrive, and future generations can know their natural beauty and diversity.
Our Goal: The establishment, restoration, maintenance and environmental protection of the Castle Wilderness as a viable wilderness within the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem.
Our Executive Director is retiring, and we wish to find a replacement.
You are passionate about wildlands and wildlife, and want to make a positive contribution to their protection. You are well organized, a self-starter, a quick study, a good communicator, have good computer skills, and are able to deal with the uncertainties that come with working with a non-profit organization. On occasion, a thick skin will come in handy.
Knowledge of the Castle and its history, knowledge of conservation biology, an understanding of Alberta and Canadian environmental law and practice, and experience supervising field staff would all be assets.
