Zero Carbon Laneway House - Open House

Feb 20 2016 - 1:00pm - 4:00pm

A 638 square foot garage with an additional 638 square feet of living space, designed to emit no greenhouse gases from operations and be net zero renewably powered on an annual basis, this building demonstrates the future of smart grid- integrated design, featuring electric car charging, a solar wall, air-to-water heat pump, and thermal storage.

With 6.8 kW of solar PV and copious amounts of natural light, this building is also part of a research and demonstration project that is the subject of a doctoral study at the University of Calgary, and explores innovative concepts at the interface of smart grid integration, renewable energy production, thermal storage, and high performance building design. Watch for an upcoming episode on the Westmount net zero laneway house at www.greenenergyfutures.ca.
