YEP Speaker Series: Approaching Major Projects in the Wake of Oil Spills

There is high risk and large upfront investment required for large infrastructure projects. Given the recent BP and Enbridge oil spills and impacts of actions from government agencies, ENGO, etc – what are the expected outcomes for the industry? Dennis McConaghy of TransCanada talks about increasing regulation, corporate responsibility and the impacts of current events on projects like McKenzie and Gateway.

As Executive Vice-President, Corporate Development Dennis McConaghy leads the development of major new infrastructure initiatives across TransCanada’s businesses. Mr. McConaghy has more than 25 years’ experience in oil and gas, beginning his career as a Research Associate with the Alberta Research Council. He has also worked for the Alberta Gas Trunkline and the Alberta Gas Ethylene Company. Mr. McConaghy graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1973 and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1975.
