Waste Minimization and Management in Construction and Demolition Operations

Mar 26 2009 - 9:00am - 3:00pm

A large proportion of construction and demolition (C&D) wastes are currently disposed of in landfills. This waste management option is not only costly and a poor use of landfill space, but it represents a missed opportunity to extract value from the "waste".

Reductions in the amount of C&D debris in landfills can be achieved by reuse and recycling of discarded materials, as well as by preventing the generation of waste materials in the first place.

Presenters at this seminar will provide an update on regulatory changes aimed at diverting material from landfill, as well as discuss some innovative  approaches to reduction of C&D waste at the source and ways to recover value from generated debris.
