1000 Prayers for Water

(formally Bow Valley’s Rachael Carson Walk)

Event starts at 11:30 am sharp

Birthday Cake in honour of Rachael Carson 1pm

What we do to the water, we do to ourselves. Our bodies are about 70 percent water, which is roughly the same percentage that water is to the surface of the Earth. There is no life without clean water.

The Bow River basin nourishes over 1 million people as well as plant and animal and life within and along its shores. It is under enormous pressure from various land use impacts and growing urban communities.

The state and fate of the Bow River mirrors the growing pressure on water resources throughout the world. Over one billion people lack access to safe drinking water and water shortages have become the issue of the century. Water crosses borders and links us all.

Prayer and collective action on behalf of the earth's water is needed.
