18th Annual ALMS Workshop

Urban lakes are unique, and as such pose unique management issues. The focus of the 2011 ALMS workshop will be on management of the quality and quantity of water within urban lakes and wetlands, other than storm water treatment ponds, and land uses that will impact or affect these lakes and wetlands.

Highlights include:

  • Presentations on current urban lake and wetland research, planning, management, and best management practices.
  • Keynote speakers: US Urban Lake Management experts Steve Souza and Ken Wagner (find their bios here)
  • Banquet features a performance by Evergreen Theatre and an art exhibit by the Chestermere Fine Arts Guild
  • Tour of Shepard Wetland, largest constructed wetland in Canada

Who should attend?

Anyone interested in lake and wetland management – individuals, communities, stewardship groups, academics, governments and industry representatives. This workshop will provide a venue to discuss technical aspects of lake and watershed management as well as suggesting practical solutions to problems. There will also be ample opportunity for people of various interests and background to share information and forge relationships for future collaborations.
