South Saskatchewan Regional Plan Public Input Workshop

Dec 11 2012 - 7:00pm

Planning for our Future - Public information and workshop on the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan

The government has recently started public consultations on the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan (SSRP).  The SSRP is the long term plan that will shape what the Calgary region, southern Alberta, and many of your favorite wilderness spots will look like into the future.  If you care about healthy ecosystems, healthy communities, sustainable economic growth in Alberta, recreation opportunities, water quality, air quality, wildlife persistence, public engagement, (...the list goes on) then you care about the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan! In order for the plan to accurately reflect the needs and values of Albertans, it is critical that you give your input! It does not matter if you know about the plan before the session and you do not have to be an expert in anything.  This is PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT to ensure that the plan for our home and backyard reflects our needs and values!

In a relaxed, informal setting, AWA staff, Dr. Brad Stelfox from ALCES, and guests will be here to provide you with information about the SSRP and answer any questions you may have about the plan, the process, and how to give your feedback. The evening will be an engaging mix of information sharing and actually working through different ways of giving input.  Strategies such as writing letters, filling out the government workbook, and making a phone call to your government representative will be covered in the workshop (as well as any other means of engagement that you are interested in talking about) or you can just come to observe.
