Sierra Club Monthly Meeting: Greening your home and greening your life

The next monthly meeting of the Sierra Club Canada's Chinook Group is on
Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 7 pm at the Calgary Area Outdoor Council (CAOC) building
at 1111 Memorial Drive NW on the Bow River pathway (upstairs, entrance at the
back).

The free public event will feature presentations from two guests:

  • Alex Joseph, Executive Director of EnerVision (a partner of Built Green through NR-Can), will be speaking to us about the Built Green program, its history, and where it's headed.
  • Kerry Kaufman, founder of Calgary eco-education service Green Plan-It, will be talking about how to green your life, and some of the services available through Green Plan-It.

Built Green is an industry driven voluntary program that promotes "green" building practices to reduce the impact that building has on the environment. It benefits the homebuyer, the community and the environment and is an opportunity for everyone to choose a "green" future. Homes that have been Built Green are currently available in Alberta and B.C. There are 8,909 homes enrolled in the Built Green Program to date.

Green Plan-It is a Calgary-based eco-education organization that offers one-on-one consultations, small group/playgroup sessions, home 'going green' parties, Special interest group discussions, daycare and childcare provider presentations and teacher sessions. Available sessions include: Eco-Baby 101, Goin' Green for Parents, For the Love of Grandkids, Raising Greener Kids (Tots to Teens), Planet Friendly Event and Planning Suggestions, Green Our School, Pick your "Eco" Part Combo.
