Public Talk: Energy and Transport in the Next Decades

Jun 9 2008 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Citizens for Better Transit is pleased to announce a special public presentation by Dr. Richard Gilbert, co-author of the recently released book 'Transport Revolutions' (Earthscan Publishers January 2008) on the evening of Monday, June 9th, 2008, 7:00 to 9:00 pm, in the Edmonton Room of the Edmonton Public Library, Stanley Milner Branch. Gilbert's talk is entitled "Energy and Transport in the Next Decades".

Gilbert, a Toronto-based consultant who focuses on transport and energy issues, and co-author Urban Studies professor Anthony Perl, discuss in their book some of the major transportation issues of our time, focusing on the impacts that rising oil prices and declining oil reserves will have on the way we move people and goods. Gilbert and Perl's research is exhaustive in the search for solutions that will help plan a smooth transition through the changes that lie ahead. 'Transport Revolutions' has been described as a book the belongs "on the desk of every transport minister's chief policy advisor".

Gilbert's talk on June 9th will be very informative in helping to set a direction with some of the transportation issues that our city is grappling with today and will face over the next several decades.

The event is open to the public.
