What is the best, high performing net zero energy home design approach now? Several Alberta NZE homes are 6 years old now.  What have we learned? Solar PV module prices are continuing to drop.  Do we still need 15” of wall insulation?  Are heat pumps a game changer?  What is the place of district heating?  What about solar hot water? What percent of passive solar heating should we design for?

One Alberta builder is claiming that their designs are approaching the point where  the energy features of a NZE home can completely pay for their additional costs over the life of the mortgage. Is this really possible?

The format will be a combination of presentations on the latest design considerations followed by a panel discussion and questions from the audience. The evening will include a report on the City of Edmonton’s exciting plans for encouraging green building.

Free presentation and discussion. No registration required. Refreshments at 6:30 pm
