Independent Study Projects by University of Calgary Students

May 16 2017 - 7:00pm

Please join us for an evening showcasing the results of independent research projects, completed by Environmental Science students at the University of Calgary.

Ecology of Grassland Springs

Alyssa Thompson

Is cattle grazing having an impact on the water quality of our grassland springs? That’s what Alyssa set out determine as she spent the last summer exploring 13 springs at Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park.

How old is the Bow River?

Brendan Hart

Have you ever wondered how old the water is that runs in our taps? Brendan ran an isotope analysis on water from the Bow to find out just how quickly water makes its way from the source to the surface. He’ll discuss what the implications of his findings have on our environment.
