Economics for Everyone by Jim Stanford

Apr 22 2009 - 12:00pm

Nationally-renowned Calgarian writes THE book on the economy

April 15, 2009 (Calgary) Is this another Depression? Or just another pointless boom-and-bust cycle? Either way, Jim Stanford thinks we need to fundamentally rethink how we organize the economy. Stanford is the Calgary-raised economist for CAW, Globe and Mail columnist, and author of the new book, Economics for Everyone:A Short Guide to the Economics of Capitalism. "We don't just need stimulus. We need a whole new model for economic growth, says Stanford." Stanford will be presenting his new book Economics for Everyone at two public events in Calgary on Wednesday April 22.

Julie Hrdlicka, Southern Alberta Outreach Coordinator for the Parkland Institute says “The economic downturn is affecting thousands of Albertans daily, we are losing jobs and Albertans are feeling vulnerable. The old system of economic growth has failed us. Now is an opportune time for new ideas and implementation of alternative economic models which create a strong economy, sustainable environment and solid social infrastructure to be created”.
