Central Edmonton Community Garden Cycling Tour

Aug 21 2010 - 9:00am - 5:00pm

See the bounty that is growing at 7 community gardens.

In an effort to share knowledge, skills and experience among community gardens, participants will be given an introductory tour to each garden and learn the basics of how each one operates. Each garden will have a tour host to share garden details, such as:

  • how they get their seeds, soil nutrients and water;
  • how many plots and gardeners;
  • how many years the garden has been growing;
  • fee structure;
  • successes, challenges, unique initiatives;
  • any tips on how to be a community garden!

The 22km tour will begin and end at Oliver Community’s Peace Garden Park (10231 120 Street).

Please bring your own bicycle, helmet, bike lock, appropriate clothing (pack a rain jacket just in case), sunscreen, water, lunch and snack. Must be comfortable with on-road cycling (light traffic only). Experienced cyclists will lead and tail.
