Public participation in the environmental authorization process is important because it ensures that decision makers have all relevant information and raises public awareness about the environmental impacts of specific activities.

The Environmental Law Centre has created a guide to authorization processes under the Water Act and Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act. This guide also outlines how to participate in decisions made by Alberta Environment and appeal decisions to the Environmental Appeals Board.

Designed for concerned citizens and community groups, this seminar will highlight opportunities and discuss strategies for effective public participation in environmental authorization processes.
