Art Show: A Necessary Vision

Jun 26 2009 - 11:00am - Jul 6 2009 - 8:00pm

Canadian Landscape as explored and experienced by Karsten Heuer and Leanne Allison

We would like to invite you to an art show by Lyse Deselliers and Mary Leigh Doyle in Canmore June 26 to July 7 at the Public Gallery by the Library. This is not only an art show however, it is a tribute to the extraordinary journeys completed by two Albertains, Karsten Heuer and Leanne Allison. As you may already know these environmentalists and explorers have walked, skied, swam and canoed across a large section of North America in 3 different trips. They have spent months facing the elements and the hardship associated with such trips in the hope of bettering our understanding of the natural world around us. This art show is about these incredible voyages, the daring, the courage and most of all the admirable perseverance necessary to accomplish what seemed impossible to others. It is also about connectiveness, between the daring adventurers and the inspired artists, between the land and the people, between the members of a family and the members of a herd and the aboriginal members of a given territory.

Lyse Deselliers, DVM
Member of the Calgary Sketch Club, Federation of Canadian Artists (treasurer) and Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists.
