2º of fear and desire community theatre workshop

Oct 25 2008 - 1:00pm - 6:00pm

"2º of Fear and Desire" is a satellite event of the SHATTERING forum theatre performances taking place on Oct. 24 & 27, presented by Headlines Theatre & the U of A Faculty of Education:

Date/Time: Saturday October 25, 1-6pm
Location: #4-104 Education North, U of A
Cost: No cost
Space is limited to 20 participants. All participants must commit to the full 5 hour workshop.

"2º of Fear and Desire" is theatre without a play – just us and our fears, desires, and challenges facing global warming. Facilitated by David Diamond, the Artistic/Managing Director of Vancouver’s acclaimed Headlines Theatre, participants in this five hour workshop are invited to use the language of the theatre to delve deep into their own, and their community’s experiences, to turn the spotlight away from the spectacle of external environmental devastation and shine it in the mirror...

To participate in the workshop, or for further details regarding this event, please contact: Diane Conrad at 780.492.5870 or diane [dot] conrad [at] ualberta [dot] ca

Audience Endorsements

“2º of Fear and Desire was the most profound activism I have ever witnessed.”

“I attended 2º of fear and desire last Saturday and was completely blown away by the experience."

"(I) attended 2º of Fear and Desire on Nov 9, which not only has inspired me to critically explore my own 'internal monologue' with respect to climate change, but has impressed upon me the power of Theatre for Living to coalesce the individual creative energy in our communities into constructive dialogue out of which substantive change emerges."

“Thank you so much for 2º of Fear and Desire this evening on climate change. I left with a feeling of hope that I haven't had for some time now. It is precisely this kind of courageous self-exploration and community-building that needs to happen in order to effect real change on this most complex and global of issues."
