Call for Delegates: ENGO Delegates, Confined Feeding Operations Project Implementation Working Group

In 2008 the Confined Feeding Operations (CFO) Project Team developed 10 recommendations to improve the management of air emissions from existing and future CFOs in Alberta, and to improve relationships between stakeholders.

Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) has led the implementation of these recommendations. ARD has requested that a multi-stakeholder implementation team be established to serve as a liaison between the CASA board, the CFO recommendation implementers, and the former CFO project team. The AEN has received a request from the Alberta Water Council (AWC) to identify two to three Non-Point Source Pollution Working Group. ENGO sector participants for a new working group:

Deadline to indicate interest is at noon Monday April 12, 2010.

Background

The Council, through its “Recommended Projects to Advance the Goal of Healthy Aquatic Ecosystems” recognized an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the contributions of non-point source pollution and the policies and tools that can minimize their impacts. The AEN has received a request from the Alberta Water Council (AWC) to identify two to three ENGO sector participants for a new working group: Developing a Water for Life Partnership Strategy.

Deadline to indicate interest is at noon Monday April 12, 2010.

Background

The Council recognized a need to improve communication, coordination, integration and cooperation between the Alberta Water Council and the other Water for Life partnerships – particularly the Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils and decided to create a Working Group to further examine the issue.

No firm project description exists – the purpose of the Working Group will be to develop a clear, concise, achievable project (ie. Develop a Terms of Reference)

The Working Group will not “do” the project, but will describe a project to be completed by a Project Team. Read more »

The Clean Air Strategic Alliance (CASA) has offered to sponsor up to 4 ENGOs to attend  the Introduction to Consensus Decision Making course on March 4 and 5 in Edmonton, part of the Alberta Arbitration & Mediation Society's certificate program is dispute resolution.  This course provides learners with a comprehensive introductory overview of consensus decision making process and the certificate program. This is a notice of deadline extension for the Priority Setting Workshop for the next workplan to develop new or renewed Ambient Air Quality Objectives.

Participants will be reviewing the suite of nominated substances for new/renewed AAQOs and working with other sector stakeholders to establish the work priorities for the next three years.

There is room for 10 ENGO representatives in all.
