Call for Delegate: AWC Enhancing Source Water Protection Working Group

At the October 2013 meeting, the board agreed to launch a new working group to explore opportunities to enhance source water protection in Alberta. The working group will scope and clarify the issues, propose a preliminary budget, and develop a draft terms of reference for board consideration and approval in March 2015.

Time Commitment: 
  • 4-months
  • 2 or 3 full‐day meetings, with possibly a couple of hours between meetings to review and comment on materials (e.g. draft terms of reference).
  • First meeting is planned for the end of October.
Selection Criteria: 
  • Representative of a sector with an interest in this issue (deal maker, deal breaker or implementer)
  • Does not have to be Director or Alternate
  • Needs to have characteristics described below, from process guidelines. 

Expectations

  • Represent a particular stakeholder organization or sector;
  • Come prepared for meetings, which means reading pre-­meeting material, completing homework assignments and being able to negotiate on behalf of their sector;
  • Make constructive contributions that advance the team’s goals and objectives, and help others to do the same;
  • Report regularly to their sector;
  • Brief their sector’s Director regularly, including prior to the team’s report and recommendations being presented to the Board;
  • As appropriate, participate in briefing Directors and Alternates in their broad category;
  • Liaise with their sector’s participants on the Board and other Council teams to maximize synergy, ensure coordination, and prevent duplication by keeping each other informed;
  • Follow the rules and principles of consensus decision-­making.

There will be a delegate (member) selection for this AWC working group at the September AEN Water Caucus meeting.
