Alberta Emerald Foundation for Environmental Excellence
14th Annual Emerald Awards
The Emerald Foundation is once again seeking individuals, organizations and
community groups in Alberta that have demonstrated excellence in activities
to protect, preserve, enhance and sustain our environment. Nomination forms
for the 2005 Emerald Awards to recognize these individuals are now available
from the Alberta Emerald Foundation for Environmental Excellence or from the
website at www.emeraldawards.com.
Nominations can be made in categories such as individual commitment, youth,
community group or not-for-profit association, education and climate change
as well as corporate or institutional leadership, research and innovation,
small or large business and government institutions.
In order to be considered for an Emerald Award the individual or initiative
should meet the criteria which include demonstration of:
- a commitment to preservation, protection, enhancement or sustainability of the environment
- positive, tangible and long-term impact on:
- quality of air, water or land
- preservation of biological diversity
- climate change/greenhouse gases
- public or corporate attitudes toward the environment.
Where appropriate, judging will acknowledge efforts that reflect
collaborative, team- or partnership-based approaches that have contributed
to the success of the nomination.
Nominations close on Monday, 28 February, 2005; finalists will be announced
in May and the 14th Annual Emerald Awards celebration will take place on
Tuesday, 7 June at the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts in Calgary.
