Issues and ideas up for discussion include factors affecting the water quality of North Saskatchewan River Watershed and other Alberta watersheds, including aggregate extraction, non-point source pollution (e.g. fertilizer runoff and stormwater input), blue green algae blooms in lakes and fecal contamination at Alberta beaches. SESA Seminar Series: Net Zero Energy Buildings— How Are They Working?

Are net zero energy houses really net zero? Northern Alberta has at least eight net zero homes. Some of them have been in operation for two years. We now have some preliminary data. Are our energy performance modeling tools sufficiently accurate? What more do we need to do to optimize the design? What improvements are possible? What new technologies are becoming available? The Solar Energy Society of Alberta is bringing together a distinguished panel of builders and designers to look at how we are doing and where we are headed in our quest to build completely self sufficient buildings in our Northern climate.
