Vegans & Vegetarians of Alberta Cookoff Potluck

There is no potluck in February but mark your calendar for March and watch for more details next month - the theme is 'green.' Each person attending the potluck is asked to bring a vegan, raw vegan or vegetarian dish for at least 8 people, a serving spoon, your own plate, bowl, cutlery and cup. Thus if two people attend together, they would bring two dishes or one larger dish (eg. a 9 x 13 inch pan). Bring a copy of your recipe to share with others if you can. The next Watershed Ambassador Breakfast will share the history of paddling down the Red Deer River during the times of the Canadian Fur Trade (1779 - 1821). Warm up with a hot breakfast as the winter approaches and enjoy some great stories of the Red Deer River's pioneer paddlers!

Presenter: Peter Allen is an Albertan and experienced canoeist who is very knowledgeable of western Canadian history; specifically, the Canadian Fur Trade of the North West Company and the Hudson's Bay Company. Read more »

Music for the Wild: Robbie & Will with guests Blue Rambler

Robbie & Will (Robbie Bankes, Will Lynch and Brigitte Ouellet) return to the Music for the Wild for the third time. They have left our audiences dazzled and delighted with their wonderfully skilled playing and their great sprit on stage. They play a mix of Celtic and folk music with élan using guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, accordions and fiddle.

The opening act is Blue Rambler (Don Gowan, Murray Little & George Campbell). Blue Rambler plays blues and swing tempered with a bit of folk and old country songs. Read more »

Hailed as one of the city’s “leading roots country acts”, Magnolia Buckskin brings you bohemian cowgirl, gospel touched folk roots music with sweet harmonies. Kathy Cook, Natasha Platt, Emily Triggs and Corry Ulan take turns singing the lead on their original tunes. They juggle between instruments: mandolin, banjo, guitar, accordion, bass and percussion.
